Do you leave yourself space to listen to your inner voices in silence?

As a music educator for more than 15 years, I strive to motivate my students to seek their unique voices deep down. Dedicated to becoming a professional counsellor, I decided to untie the knots in life by responding to my inner voices through counselling. It took almost a year to conquer my fear.

“The very thing we need to fear is fear itself.” My counsellor reminded me.

I plucked up the courage to walk through those trying times, expressing my fears through art therapy. Tears were shed in the heart-wrenching process. The healing journey was most challenging, yet rewarding. Every single courageous step forward made me a more authentic person, better able to be true to myself.

I believe the transformation of emotions will take place when we are at peace with who we are. Through mindfulness, we can allow ourselves space to pause every now and then, paying full attention to the voices in our head, our emotions, and body sensation. As in my case, as I started to cultivate kindness to myself with a non-judgemental attitude, my deepest yearnings and needs gradually surfaced. I spared no effort in getting them fulfilled. With diminished fear, I felt like I was reborn, stronger than ever.

Counselling is a journey for you to not only listen to your inner voices, but also respond to them. While you may have left them unheard for quite some time, it is never too late to get them heard now. The voices may go unnoticed due to overwhelming emotions, such as fear. Perhaps you are just a step away from a life-transforming experience. The first step is always the hardest part, but take heart. The courage you need is already inside you.

If you are having a hard time in life, I will be there for you, offering you a ready ear. Together we will explore ways to give play to your strengths and inner resources. Life has ups and downs, but you will never walk alone.
